Phlebotomist – Part‑Time

About the role

The Phlebotomist will provide safe, efficient and compassionate blood collection and specimen sampling services for patients at Citizen Society. This part‑time frontline medical role requires clinical precision, strict infection‑control adherence and empathetic patient communication.

Key responsibilities

• Perform vein, capillary and skin punctures on patients of all ages, ensuring minimal discomfort.
• Verify patient identity and test requisitions before sampling to prevent errors.
• Label collection tubes immediately with accurate patient details and enter data into the organization’s database.
• Maintain a sterile work environment, follow biosafety guidelines and dispose of hazardous waste properly.
• Monitor inventory of phlebotomy consumables and coordinate procurement with administrative staff.

Required profile

• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, Phlebotomy Certification, or equivalent clinical nursing diploma.
• 1–2 years of hands‑on phlebotomy experience in a hospital, diagnostic lab, clinic or community health setting.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy techniques for diverse patient groups (including pediatric and geriatric).
• Accurate specimen labeling and data entry.
• Basic computer literacy for database entry.
• Knowledge of infection‑control and biosafety protocols.
