Principal Software Engineer - Backend

About the role

Join Dubizzle Labs in Lahore as a Principal Software Engineer focusing on backend development. You will lead the design and delivery of high‑performance services that power our hyper‑growing businesses across 10 countries.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning and architecture of new product features, including detailed rollout and rollback strategies.
• Design, develop, and maintain multiple REST‑based APIs within a Service Oriented Architecture.
• Mentor team members, conduct code reviews, and uphold programming standards.
• Drive reliability and efficiency improvements across the code base, platforms, and core systems.
• Research and apply industry trends, ensuring the code base stays modern and performant.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, capable of handling complex, large‑scale tasks.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Proven track record delivering high‑traffic, large‑scale web products.

Required skills

• Python (preferred language).
• Cloud infrastructure experience, preferably AWS.
• Kubernetes and Docker container orchestration.
• Design and implementation of REST APIs and SOA.
• Distributed systems, caching (memcached), and performance analysis.
• Continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines and testing methodologies (unit, component, integration).
