Project Manager, Whey2Value (Greening the dairy sector in Pakistan)

About the role

GAIN is recruiting a Project Manager for the Whey2Value initiative, aimed at greening Pakistan's dairy sector. Based in Islamabad, the manager will lead the project, coordinate partners, and ensure delivery within approved plans, budget, and quality standards over a 2.5‑year fixed‑term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for design, planning and implementation following GAIN Project Management Guidelines.
• Monitor contextual dynamics and adapt activities and implementation modalities.
• Enable team assessments and support proposal development.
• Lead and facilitate the inception workshop and regular project review meetings.
• Track documentation of findings and recommendations in PRISM.
• Identify, track and resolve project issues, monitor risks and develop contingency plans.
• Escalate issues when appropriate and integrate environment, gender and safeguarding specialists into designs.
• Ensure compliance with GAIN policies and best‑practice standards.

Required profile

• Significant experience managing dairy‑sector projects, preferably in cheese manufacturing, within multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Proven record of delivering projects on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Strong donor contract and budget management experience, ensuring compliance and financial accountability.
• Effective collaborative leader with experience coaching and developing high‑performing teams.
• Excellent facilitation, communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
