Remote Data Protection Officer – Privacy Compliance

About the role

We are seeking a Remote Data Protection Officer to lead privacy compliance for a global IT services and consulting client. The contractor will design, implement, and monitor data protection strategies across international markets, ensuring that all personal data handling meets regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies aligned with GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA and other global privacy laws.
• Conduct regular audits, assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) to verify compliance.
• Serve as the primary contact for internal teams and external stakeholders on data protection queries.
• Monitor, report and mitigate data protection risks, recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver training and awareness sessions on privacy best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Law or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Relevant certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM or CISSP are preferred.
• Proven experience in privacy compliance, DPIAs and privacy‑by‑design frameworks.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of GDPR, CCPA and HIPAA regulations.
• Expertise in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Ability to design and enforce privacy‑by‑design controls.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities for compliance gaps.
