Remote Mechanical Engineer – Contract

About the role

This contract position is for a Mechanical Engineer who will provide expert technical guidance on system architecture, troubleshoot complex issues, and help optimise performance across distributed platforms. The role is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while collaborating with global product and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evaluate scalable system architectures that meet evolving business and technical requirements.
• Diagnose and resolve high‑priority production issues with minimal downtime.
• Develop and document engineering best practices, standards, and guidelines for cross‑team adoption.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews to ensure quality and security standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience with distributed systems, microservices, or large‑scale backend infrastructure.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a track record of resolving complex technical challenges.
• Excellent written communication skills for clear technical documentation.

Required skills

• Python, Java, Go, or Rust programming languages.
• Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Containerisation tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture.
