Secondary Section Teacher - English and Social Studies (Year 6)

About the role

PECHS Girls' School is looking for a Secondary Section Teacher to teach English and Social Studies to Year 6 students. The post centres on delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons that build students' understanding of both subjects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare engaging lesson plans using active learning strategies.
• Foster critical thinking, communication, creativity, inquiry and analytical skills through classroom discussion and activities.
• Create a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
• Provide individual academic support and guidance to students when needed.
• Plan, deliver and assess lessons according to the Year 6 curriculum, preparing students for assessments.
• Use technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning.
• Design, prepare and evaluate formative and summative assessments.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and share responsibilities within the department and school community.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in English, Social Studies, Education or a related field.
• Preference for candidates with experience teaching English and Social Studies to Year 6.
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons across both subjects.
