Security Support

About the role

The Security Support role is based in FAO Pakistan’s Quetta office and contributes to a safe operating environment for programme delivery in Balochistan. Reporting to the FAO Representative and working closely with the Provincial Office head, the incumbent will support the International Project Manager and coordinate with UN security entities, local authorities, and law‑enforcement agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and periodically review Security Management Plans for FAO operations in Balochistan in coordination with UNDSS and other stakeholders.
• Conduct security risk assessments of programme locations, offices, field activities and operational modalities, recommending mitigation measures.
• Monitor compliance with approved Security Risk Management Measures, Area Security Risk Management requirements, UNDSS policies and FAO security procedures, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Update security‑related Standard Operating Procedures, travel security measures, contingency and evacuation plans, and emergency response arrangements.
• Provide timely security advisories, threat assessments and contextual analysis to protect FAO personnel, assets and operations.
• Maintain effective working relationships with UNDSS, government authorities, law‑enforcement agencies and relevant security networks.

Required profile

• Experience in security risk assessment and management, preferably in conflict‑affected or high‑risk environments.
• Familiarity with United Nations security frameworks and procedures.
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to produce clear security briefings.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
