Senior Backend Software Engineer (Golang)

About the role

Careem’s Marketplace ETA & Routing team builds the real‑time estimated delivery times and routing logic that power all of its verticals, from food to taxis. As a Senior Backend Software Engineer you will design, develop and maintain the highly reliable services that compute ETAs and optimise delivery routes at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and operate scalable backend services for real‑time ETA computation and delivery routing.
• Write clean, high‑performance Golang code and deliver end‑to‑end features independently.
• Translate functional specifications into production‑grade backend solutions.
• Ensure system reliability through unit, integration and end‑to‑end testing.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, respond to incidents within SLAs and maintain platform uptime.
• Contribute to agile processes and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
• Collaborate with engineers across Jordan, Pakistan and Dubai, fostering technical excellence.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Hands‑on experience with Golang or a modern OO language (Java, C#, C++, Kotlin).
• Strong fundamentals in object‑oriented design, data structures and algorithms.
