Senior Contracts Engineer

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Senior Contracts Engineer to join its hydropower project team in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The role focuses on contract administration, compliance and claims management for dam and hydropower works.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and manage contracts for hydropower projects, ensuring scope, terms and conditions align with project specifications.
• Monitor contract performance and prepare regular reports on claims status and potential issues for senior management.
• Handle and resolve claims, disputes and contractual issues throughout the project lifecycle.
• Liaise with legal advisors and external consultants to resolve complex claims.
• Identify contractual risks and devise mitigation strategies.
• Maintain comprehensive records of contracts, claims and related correspondence.

Required profile

• University degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline (BE/B.Sc or Masters).
• 10‑15 years of experience in contract management, construction administration and claims resolution, preferably on hydropower projects.
• Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and regulatory frameworks for hydropower.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and leadership abilities.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
