Senior Data Engineer (Remote)

About the role

Fusemachines is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its global AI practice. You will design, build, and maintain high‑performance data pipelines and cloud‑native architectures that enable AI‑driven transformation for clients across retail, manufacturing, and government.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable batch and real‑time data solutions on major cloud platforms.
• Develop end‑to‑end pipelines using dbt, Airflow, Dagster or native cloud orchestrators.
• Integrate data from APIs, relational and NoSQL stores, flat files, and streaming services such as Kafka, Kinesis, and Pub/Sub.
• Design data models (3NF, star, snowflake) and Lakehouse/Warehouse schemas.
• Optimize performance, cost, and reliability of Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse, etc.
• Implement data governance, quality, lineage, and observability practices.
• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams using Git, CI/CD, and IaC tools.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on data engineering in production environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL and PySpark/Apache Spark.
• Deep expertise in at least one cloud data ecosystem (AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks).
• Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT, and orchestration tools.
• Solid understanding of SDLC, DevOps, and data governance concepts.
