Senior Data Visualisation Engineer (Power BI)

About the role

Abacus is looking for a Senior Data Visualisation Engineer to lead the design and delivery of Power BI solutions for its clients in Lahore. The role combines data analysis, modelling and visual storytelling to turn complex data sets into clear, actionable insights for business and executive decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that support data‑driven decisions across operational, management and executive levels.
• Develop robust semantic models, measures, calculated columns and reusable datasets using DAX, Power Query and sound data‑modelling principles.
• Connect to, transform and validate data from multiple sources such as SQL databases, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, data warehouses and cloud platforms.
• Optimise report performance, data‑refresh processes and query logic to ensure scalable and efficient solutions.
• Engage with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs, clarify data definitions and translate needs into practical BI solutions.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts and product teams to align dashboards with business processes and data sources.
• Facilitate user acceptance testing, walkthroughs and adoption activities.
• Implement BI governance standards, naming conventions, documentation and version control.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering Power BI solutions in a senior or lead capacity.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business questions into technical specifications.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and presenting insights.
• Attention to data quality, consistency and security.
