Senior Director – Surveys & Mapping (Contract)

About the role

The Senior Director of Surveys and Mapping will lead the Division within the National Land Agency, ensuring all surveying and mapping activities comply with the Land Surveyors Act and related legislation while delivering high customer satisfaction. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the role combines strategic leadership, operational oversight, and technical governance of land‑based surveys, cadastral mapping, and hydrographic projects.

Key responsibilities

• Define, communicate and monitor division objectives, corporate plans and budgets.
• Hire, train and evaluate competent staff; conduct performance reviews in line with PMAS guidelines.
• Allocate human and financial resources, oversee operational results and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure survey plans and maps meet statutory requirements and are certified.
• Arbitrate survey and mapping issues, chair the Land Surveyors Board and enforce relevant acts and regulations.
• Deliver cadastral maps, hydrographic surveys and other deliverables on schedule.
• Prepare and submit divisional reports to the CEO and maintain external relationships to keep the agency current.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in land surveying, cadastral mapping and related regulatory frameworks.
• Proven senior‑level leadership in a public or large‑scale organization.
• Strong knowledge of the Land Surveyors Act, Registration of Titles Act and SPA.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, staff performance and strategic planning.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
