Senior Executive – Legal, Claims, UAC & Compliance

About the role

The Senior Executive / Assistant Manager will support the Manager in overseeing MSC's Legal, Claims and Unaccounted Container (UAC) functions. The role ensures timely monitoring of legal cases, efficient claims handling and rapid turnaround of UAC containers to minimise revenue loss.

Key responsibilities

• Manage correspondence and follow‑up with principals, lawyers, surveyors, agents, customers and other stakeholders on legal, claims and UAC matters.
• Maintain and update records, reports, statistics and KPIs, providing timely reports to management.
• Administer UAC cases: update systems, monitor progress, coordinate with POL/POD agents, merchants and customers, and drive resolution through recovery, re‑export, auction, salvage or destruction.
• Provide legal and administrative support: review contracts, prepare case summaries, liaise with external counsel, P&I clubs and principals, and assist with court‑related tasks.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, SOPs and regulatory requirements covering shipping, customs, taxation and commercial operations.
• Monitor recovery processes, issue notices, manage claims handling and obtain approvals for commercial settlements.
• Act as focal point for regulatory matters, customer complaints, blacklisting requests and incident handling in the manager’s absence.
• Conduct regular UAC review meetings, monitor operational risks and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Experience in legal, claims and UAC management, preferably within the shipping or logistics sector.
• Strong coordination skills with internal teams and external partners.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and produce KPI‑driven reports.
• Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to maritime operations.
