Senior IT Administrator

About the role

Umer & Company, an IBM Business Partner based in Lahore, is looking for a senior IT professional to own and operate the new office’s technology environment. The role combines infrastructure management, vendor coordination and strategic planning to ensure uninterrupted services for clients during U.S. business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Design, install and maintain power systems (inverters, UPS, generator, stabilizers) with regular load testing.
• Ensure internet reliability using multiple ISPs with automatic fail‑over, monitoring and escalation procedures.
• Manage data‑center infrastructure including racks, cabling, servers, hypervisors, virtual machines, storage and Microsoft 365.
• Write RFP specifications, evaluate vendor quotes and enforce service‑level agreements.
• Develop a multi‑year budget and strategy, prioritising spend that protects or unlocks business capabilities.
• Oversee security operations such as patching, access reviews, backup restores, surveillance and access control.
• Lead support staff, drive projects to scope, cost and schedule, and flag any slippage early.

Required profile

• 8+ years of IT or system administration experience, with at least 2 years leading an environment.
• Hands‑on experience with inverter, UPS and generator power sizing and runtime calculations.
• Strong networking background on Cisco, MikroTik, UniFi or Huawei (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, VPN, firewalls, Wi‑Fi).
• Proficiency with servers and virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V, Proxmox) and Windows Server/10/11 plus Active Directory.
• Demonstrated ability to write RFPs, manage vendors and deliver projects on time and budget.
• Record of technical delivery, junior staff mentorship and clear communication with non‑technical stakeholders.
• Relevant degree (DAE, BSIT, BSCS) and preferably certifications such as CCNA, HCIA, CompTIA or Microsoft.
