Senior Manager, Financial Control

About the role

The Senior Manager, Financial Control ensures the accuracy, compliance and integrity of Sundry General Ledger accounts and internal accounts across Mashreq Bank's UAE and overseas operations. The role drives monthly variance analysis, manages escalations, and safeguards against financial risks.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct periodic reviews of Sundry GLs and internal accounts to ensure completeness, accuracy and adherence to IFRS and internal policies.
• Perform comprehensive monthly variance analysis, prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to senior management.
• Oversee critical financial control functions, including reconciliation of GL subsidiary accounts, monitoring reverse/abnormal balances and ensuring ICFR compliance.
• Coordinate with external auditors and internal teams to resolve audit queries and support regulatory reporting.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures and frameworks to minimise financial risks and drive continuous process improvement.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA, CPA or equivalent qualification.
• 7‑8 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting or internal controls, preferably within banking or financial services.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and banking regulatory reporting standards.
• Expertise in financial analysis, reconciliations and exception management.
• Proficiency with core banking systems, accounting software and advanced Excel tools.
• Understanding of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR).
