About the role
PwC is seeking a Senior Manager to lead complex financial services audit engagements across banks, insurance, asset management and other financial institutions in Pakistan. The role provides senior‑level leadership, ensures audit quality, and builds strong client relationships while maintaining independence.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of complex audits for banks, digital and micro‑finance banks, development finance institutions, insurance and takaful companies, asset managers, mutual funds, NBFCs and capital‑market entities.
- Set engagement direction with partners, challenge audit strategy, and address elevated and emerging risks.
- Oversee critical judgments on credit losses, impairments, fair values, insurance contract liabilities, actuarial assumptions, consolidation, going‑concern and regulatory capital.
- Review audit documentation, financial statements, audit reports, regulatory returns and communications to audit committees and boards.
- Manage senior relationships with CFOs, finance leadership, audit committees and boards while preserving auditor independence.
- Drive portfolio economics, resource deployment, budgeting, billing and collection.
- Coach and develop managers and engagement teams, providing performance feedback and technical guidance.
Required profile
- Qualified Chartered Accountant, member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
- Minimum five years post‑qualification experience, primarily in external audit and assurance.
- Proven experience leading complex financial services audits and managing multiple engagements or a significant client portfolio.
- Broad exposure to banking, insurance, asset management, non‑banking finance or capital markets is strongly preferred.
Required skills
- Advanced knowledge of IFRS (especially IFRS 9, IFRS 17) and International Standards on Auditing (ISAs).
- Strong understanding of Pakistan’s financial services regulatory environment (ICAP, SBP, SECP, AOB).
- Proficiency with audit platforms, data analytics and technology‑enabled audit procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication for high‑quality reports and presentations.
