Senior Manager, Internal Shariah Audit

About the role

The Senior Manager, Internal Shariah Audit will support the Head of Internal Shariah Audit (ISA) in preparing quarterly presentations for the Board Audit Committee, Shariah Board and Internal Shariah Supervision Committee, and will lead the internal Shariah audit function across the bank’s Islamic products and services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Shariah field audits and reviews in line with the approved audit program, covering Islamic products, services and transactions.
• Manage a Shariah audit team of 2‑3 members, ensuring effective execution of audit plans and clear communication of findings.
• Develop and update the audit coverage plan (BPRA) and maintain comprehensive audit work papers.
• Prepare and present audit action plans, exit meeting minutes and follow‑up on implementation of corrective measures.
• Coordinate with the Internal Audit team, exchange findings and contribute to joint presentations for the Board Audit Committee and Management Business Objectives review.
• Maintain the annual GRAM score sheets, update the ISA intranet pages and assist in revising the Internal Shariah Audit Manual.
• Provide inputs for the Shariah Board/ISSC meeting presentations and quarterly ISA MBO review.

Required profile

• Experience in examining and evaluating Shariah governance and internal controls of Islamic banking activities.
• Familiarity with resolutions, fatawa, guidelines issued by Shariah Boards, State Bank of Pakistan and Central Bank of UAE Higher Shariah Authority.
• Proven ability to lead a small audit team and manage audit projects from planning to reporting.
• Strong analytical skills to identify deficiencies, recommend improvements and monitor action‑plan implementation.
