Senior Principal Python Backend Engineer

About the role

Senior Principal Python Backend Engineer responsible for owning core backend platforms and APIs that power e‑signatures, contract workflows, AI capabilities, and external integrations. This hands‑on senior position designs, builds, and operates secure, reliable, and scalable backend services for both cloud and on‑premise environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop clean, well‑structured APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Build and maintain core domain services such as signature workflows, document processing, storage, and identity & access management.
• Integrate third‑party services including identity providers, storage platforms, and notification systems.
• Own data modeling and schema design for relational databases, ensuring performance and consistency.
• Implement unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines with DevOps and SRE teams.
• Optimize performance and scalability through caching, background jobs, query tuning, and concurrency patterns.

Required profile

• 6–10+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Strong production experience with Python and modern backend frameworks.
• Proven experience building complex B2B SaaS backend systems.
• Solid background designing RESTful and/or gRPC APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with relational databases, schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
