Software Quality Engineer (AI-Augmented Testing)

About the role

A Software Quality Engineer is needed in Karachi to analyse requirements and user stories, run comprehensive testing and use AI to support test scenarios, data, scripts, log summaries and root-cause analysis. The role covers functional, exploratory, regression, integration, API and end-to-end testing, with a focus on catching hallucinations and weak outputs from AI.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse business requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria to find gaps, ambiguities, contradictions and risks.
• Perform functional, exploratory, regression, integration, end-to-end, API and edge-case testing.
• Use AI for test scenarios, test data, scripts, log summaries and root-cause analysis, while checking for hallucinations and weak output.
• Investigate defects using browser developer tools, application logs, API responses, database records and monitoring tools.
• Test REST APIs, validate request/response contracts, check authorization and error handling, and use SQL to ensure data integrity.
• Run load and performance testing with JMeter and Locust.
• Develop and maintain automated tests with Selenium, Python or JavaScript; validate fixes and assess regression risks.
• Document defects clearly, communicate technical risks and take ownership of quality throughout development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 2-4 years of relevant software testing experience.
• Experience with AI-assisted testing and development tools is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal English, including requirement analysis and professional defect reporting.
• Ability to identify assumptions, detect contradictions and make evidence-based decisions.

Required skills

• Functional, exploratory, regression, integration, API and end-to-end testing.
• Defect investigation, debugging, root-cause analysis and test automation fundamentals.
• Postman, SQL, Jira and browser developer tools.
• Selenium, Python, JavaScript, PyCharm, Visual Studio, CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments and distributed systems (preferred).
• ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Gemini, Cursor and GitHub Copilot (highly desirable).
