Tax Lead

About the role

The Tax Lead will oversee both direct and indirect tax compliance for a fast‑growing portfolio of ventures operating in Pakistan and the UAE. The role supports the evolution of the group’s tax function, ensuring timely filings, strategic planning, and effective coordination across jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and file corporate income tax, withholding tax, sales tax/VAT returns for Pakistan and the UAE.
• Maintain a tax compliance calendar, flagging deadlines and filing requirements.
• Develop tax planning options to optimise the group’s effective tax rate.
• Analyse tax implications of new products, contracts, cross‑border transactions and support transfer‑pricing documentation.
• Coordinate group structuring, new entity setups and expansion into new jurisdictions with legal counsel.
• Act as liaison with external tax advisors and auditors across jurisdictions.
• Support tax audits, assessments and authority inquiries, preparing responses and documentation.
• Maintain audit‑ready tax records and monitor regulatory changes.
• Prepare tax projections and provisions for financial planning and reporting.
• Respond to routine tax queries from Finance, Legal and Operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or related field.
• 4+ years progressive tax experience, including at least 2 years in a tax advisory firm or IT/retail company.
• Strong knowledge of Pakistan tax law (income, sales, withholding) and UAE corporate tax and VAT.
• Hands‑on experience with tax compliance filings and communication with tax authorities.
• Excellent analytical ability, attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English with the ability to explain tax matters to non‑tax stakeholders.
