Tissue Culture Lab Manager

About the role

The laboratory manager will oversee the tissue culture facility at the Agro Greenhouse in Phool Nagar, ensuring world‑class standards for potato germplasm maintenance, genetic purity, and health. The role involves coordinating DNA fingerprinting, virus testing, and timely plantlet multiplication to meet seed pipeline requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain world‑class standards for germplasm handling, sanitation, and media preparation.
• Establish and sustain relationships with NARC, Frito‑Lay USA, and key suppliers for SOPs, glassware, chemicals, and biotech testing services.
• Oversee long‑term preservation and periodic sub‑culturing of potato clones.
• Coordinate regular DNA fingerprinting and ELISA virus tests, and maintain related documentation.
• Plan and execute mass multiplication of plantlets to fulfill seed pipeline needs.
• Collaborate closely with the seed team to understand pipeline requirements and generation advancement processes.

Required profile

• PhD in Tissue Culture, Biotechnology, Seed Science or a related field.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience, including 2–3 years in a managerial position.
• Proven ability to manage laboratory operations and supplier relationships.
