Utility Engineer – Steam, Air & Water Systems

About the role

Ingredion is seeking a Utility Engineer to ensure reliable operation of steam, compressed air, water treatment, and cooling systems at its Cornwala plant. You will lead initiatives that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and tune boilers to provide consistent steam supply.
• Manage dry, specification‑compliant compressed and instrument air systems.
• Oversee canal water pretreatment, soft‑water production, and groundwater supply.
• Maintain circulating and chilled water flow through efficient chiller operation.
• Monitor natural gas supply, manage SNG backup, and ensure safe gas handling.
• Run wastewater treatment within NEQS limits and enforce safety protocols.
• Administer crew scheduling, spare‑parts inventory, and departmental objectives.

Required profile

• BSc in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of utilities operations experience, including coal‑fired power plants and wastewater treatment.
• Strong knowledge of utilities operation, maintenance, installation, and commissioning.
• Familiarity with safety standards for high‑risk jobs.
• Ability to motivate teams, adapt to change, and pursue continuous improvement.
• Experience handling boiler registrations, annual inspections, and gas regulator coordination.
