Wing Head – GL Control (VP)

About the role

The National Bank of Pakistan is seeking a senior professional to lead its General Ledger (GL) Control Wing in Karachi. Reporting to the Divisional Head – SBP Reporting & General Accounting, the role provides strategic leadership for GL balancing, validation and related reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction to the GL Control Wing for data collection, GL balancing and validation.
• Represent the wing in forums and committees on GL issues, escalating non‑balancing and non‑validation reasons.
• Review and monitor management action plans for remediation of GL discrepancies.
• Analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual MIS reports on GL balancing to drive corrective actions.
• Perform any other assignments as directed by supervisors.

Required profile

• Minimum graduation (local or international) recognized by HEC Pakistan.
• Preferably ACCA, ICMA or CA part‑qualified.
• At least 8 years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in a financial institution or audit firm.
• Hands‑on experience with GL accounts.
• Strong business acumen, analytical and report‑writing skills.

Required skills

• Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Basic understanding of Power BI.
• Detail‑oriented with high accuracy in GL handling.
