API Inspector – Pressure Vessel & Tank Inspection

About the role

The API Inspector ensures the integrity, reliability, and regulatory compliance of pressure vessels, piping systems, and above‑ground storage tanks. Working in line with API, ASME, ISO and ASTM standards, the role safeguards asset performance, reduces unplanned downtime and enhances safety for oil & gas, petrochemical or power facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of pressure vessels, piping and storage tanks according to API 510, 570 and 653 requirements.
• Monitor repairs, alterations and rerating activities to verify code compliance.
• Perform thickness measurements, corrosion assessments, fitness‑for‑service evaluations and remaining‑life calculations.
• Identify non‑conformities, issue NCRs and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
• Ensure all inspection activities meet safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to optimise asset reliability and minimise downtime.
• Prepare and submit accurate inspection reports within project and client timelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy or related discipline (or relevant diploma).
• At least one API certification: API 510, API 570 or API 653.
• 5–12 years of inspection experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or power industries.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII, IX, B31.3 and related standards.
• Familiarity with corrosion mechanisms, degradation modes and RBI methodologies.
• Excellent report‑writing, analytical and communication skills in English.
