Patient Services & Insurance Specialist

About the role

EDGE is seeking a Patient Services & Insurance Specialist to support US‑based healthcare providers from its Pakistan office. The role acts as a bridge between patients, providers and insurers, handling phone triage, scheduling, registration, insurance verification and telehealth coordination while maintaining accurate EHR records.

Key responsibilities

• Answer and manage incoming patient calls, schedule visits and confirm appointments to optimize provider calendars.
• Tri­age inbound calls, escalate urgent clinical cases, and log all interactions.
• Collect and verify patient registration and insurance details, confirming eligibility, benefits and coverage (PPO, HMO, Medicare, Medicaid).
• Track and follow up on patient balances older than 90 days and handle basic billing, referral and prior‑authorization inquiries.
• Obtain external medical records, process lab orders, upload test results and manage prescription‑refill workflows.
• Monitor EHR inboxes, update patient charts in a HIPAA‑compliant manner and keep task queues clean.

Required profile

• Prior experience in a US healthcare administrative or medical office role.
• Willingness to work on‑site at the Edge Pakistan office.
• Strong understanding of US health‑insurance basics, ICD/CPT terminology and HIPAA regulations.
• Excellent written and spoken English, high attention to detail and a patient‑centered phone manner.

Required skills

• Experience with athenahealth (Athena) and Spruce platforms.
• Proficiency with telehealth platforms.
• Familiarity with Slack and Microsoft Teams.
• Use of digital document management tools.
