PHP Engineer (Remote, Hourly Contractor)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced PHP Engineer to work remotely on an hourly basis. You will review AI‑generated PHP code, backend designs, and technical explanations, producing high‑quality reference implementations and detailed reasoning for complex engineering problems.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed prompts and reference answers to improve AI training on PHP and backend topics.
• Evaluate, rank, and provide feedback on AI responses, focusing on correctness, security, readability, and performance.
• Test AI outputs for inaccuracies, unsafe practices, and potential biases, ensuring reliability across real‑world use cases.
• Identify architectural, data‑modeling, API, security, caching, and database issues in submitted solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• 4+ years of professional experience developing production backend systems in modern PHP (7.4/8.x+).
• Strong understanding of HTTP, REST, authentication/authorization, sessions, caching, queues, and API design.
• Proficiency with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and transactions.
• Experience with at least one major PHP framework such as Laravel or Symfony.
• Security‑focused mindset with knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices.
• Comfort with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing (e.g., PHPUnit).
• Minimum C1 English proficiency, both written and spoken.
