Unit Head – Risk Review (AVP/VP) – Banking

About the role

The National Bank of Pakistan is seeking a senior professional to lead its Risk Review unit. Reporting to the Wing Head of Risk Governance & Control, the role focuses on overseeing audit and regulatory compliance for retail and program lending portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and respond to internal, external and regulatory audits for retail and program lending.
• Review audit findings, identify root causes and drive timely corrective actions.
• Liaise with product, operations and credit policy teams to align processes with policy and regulatory requirements.
• Track and report the closure status of audit and regulatory observations to senior management.
• Conduct compliance checks, flag violations and assess potential risks.
• Facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring observations are closed within agreed timelines.
• Deliver awareness sessions on compliance issues for business and support teams.
• Maintain an audit/inspection repository for reference and trend analysis.
• Perform any other assignments as directed by supervisors.

Required profile

• Minimum graduation; Masters or relevant professional certifications preferred.
• At least 6 years of experience in regulatory compliance, internal audit or risk management within a commercial bank.
• Knowledge of SBP Prudential Regulations, Risk Management Frameworks and Audit Methodologies.
• Strong communication, analytical mindset, high integrity and attention to detail.
• Understanding of retail lending products, operational risk and control frameworks.
• Good business acumen, process efficiency and coordination skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
