Database Administrator (Applications DBA)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Applications DBA to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our enterprise applications and databases. The role focuses on mission‑critical systems and requires strong expertise in MS SQL Server, Linux, and Shell scripting.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, and optimise MS SQL Server databases for high availability and performance.
• Manage application databases, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.
• Perform backup, recovery, and disaster‑recovery planning.
• Implement database security, user access controls, and compliance standards.
• Troubleshoot database and application issues to minimise downtime.
• Develop and maintain Shell scripts to automate routine tasks.
• Collaborate with application teams for deployments, integrations, and performance tuning.
• Monitor system health and proactively identify risks or anomalies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in an Apps DBA capacity.
• Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server administration.
• Hands‑on experience with Linux environments.
• Proficiency in Shell scripting for automation.
• Solid understanding of performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security.
• Experience with other RDBMS such as Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with application servers, middleware, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
