Lab Technician – Hydropower Project

About the role

SMEC is seeking a motivated Lab Technician to support a key hydropower project in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The role involves conducting laboratory and field testing of construction materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform laboratory and on‑site tests on concrete, aggregates, soil and other construction materials.
• Collect, prepare, label and test material samples according to approved procedures and standards.
• Record test results, prepare laboratory reports and maintain quality documentation.
• Assist QA/QC engineers in verifying material compliance and reporting non‑conformances.
• Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory testing equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
• Support site inspections and field testing activities as required.

Required profile

• Diploma, B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or a related technical qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in construction materials testing or laboratory work.
• Experience in hydropower, dam or major civil infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of testing methods for concrete, aggregates and soil.
• Familiarity with relevant testing standards and QA/QC requirements.
• Excellent communication, documentation and teamwork abilities.
