Linux Architect

About the role

A highly experienced Linux Engineer is sought to design, standardize, automate and optimize enterprise-wide Linux platforms. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building reusable solutions for Linux Operations and Infrastructure teams, rather than day-to-day system administration.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise Linux platform standards and automated build solutions.
• Develop standardized OS and container golden images for bare-metal, VMware, OpenShift and cloud environments.
• Manage and enhance Red Hat Satellite, Kickstart, PXE, DHCP and Redfish for automated provisioning.
• Optimize RHEL platforms, including kernel, CPU, memory, I/O and network/TCP performance.
• Define Linux security, hardening, configuration and compliance standards.
• Build monitoring and observability solutions integrated with Splunk, ELK, SIEM and AppDynamics.
• Automate patching, firmware updates, configuration management, monitoring and compliance with Ansible, Bash and Python.
• Support Linux platforms across OpenShift, VMware, Kubernetes and cloud environments.
• Act as a Level 3 escalation point, lead root cause analysis and join a 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, DevOps, Security, Enterprise Architecture and BAU teams, and work with vendors on platform improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years in Enterprise Linux, including at least 5 years in Senior Linux Administration and 5 years in Linux Engineering.
• RHCE certification required; RHCA is a plus.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on expertise with RHEL 6 onwards and Red Hat Satellite Server, preferably Kickstart.
• Knowledge of PXE, DHCP, Redfish and automated OS provisioning.
• Experience creating standardized OS/container images across on-premises, VMware, OpenShift and cloud environments.
• Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes in cloud environments.
• Ansible, Bash, Python, Packer and CI/CD/DevOps tools.
• DNS, NFS, NTP, SNMP, SMTP, Active Directory, TCP/IP and Ethernet.
• Linux troubleshooting, kernel analysis, performance tuning, security hardening and SIEM experience.
• AWS/Azure certifications are advantageous.
