Mechanical Engineer – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will lead manufacturing operations on a shift or across production lines, ensuring volume, quality and cost targets are met. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the role combines hands‑on equipment maintenance with project execution and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical equipment such as pumps, gears, conveyors, sifters, dryers, elevators, mills, centrifuges, fans and compressors.
• Develop and execute preventive and condition‑based maintenance schedules using SAP, including creation of smart maintenance tools.
• Manage critical spare‑part inventories, generate purchase requisitions and track deliveries.
• Lead capex/MOC projects: feasibility studies, BOQ preparation, procurement, safe execution and contract management.
• Implement EHS standards, conduct risk assessments and ensure a safe working environment.
• Identify cost‑reduction opportunities and recommend new equipment or processes.
• Develop and mentor the engineering and services team, fostering a self‑motivated work culture.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements related to mechanical and electrical systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 4‑7 years of hands‑on operations and maintenance experience in petro‑chemical, fertilizer, process or food industries.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

• Mechanical equipment operation (pumps, gears, conveyors, sifters, dryers, elevators, mills, centrifuges, fans, compressors).
• Mechanical system design.
• Alignment, balancing and condition monitoring techniques.
• SAP maintenance module for PM/CM scheduling.
• Smart maintenance tools and techniques.
• Project feasibility reporting, BOQ preparation and capex/MOC execution.
• Contract management.
• EHS risk assessment and compliance.
