Mechanical Operations Manager – Data Centre

About the role

Sky47 is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Operations Manager to lead the safe, reliable and continuous operation of all mechanical and cooling systems at its Islamabad data centre. The role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on management of 24/7 mechanical services, ensuring optimal thermal performance and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operation of HVAC, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, VRF, CDUs, liquid‑cooling loops, pumps, FAHUs and fire‑suppression systems.
• Direct the mechanical operations team in handling cooling faults, thermal events and emergency situations according to SOPs and safety protocols.
• Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for all mechanical assets.
• Implement airflow‑management best practices, including hot/cold aisle containment, CFD analysis and CFM optimisation.
• Monitor system performance via DCIM, BMS and CPM platforms, performing risk identification and trend analysis.
• Ensure compliance with Uptime Institute Tier III/IV standards, regulatory requirements and audit frameworks.
• Manage vendor and OEM contracts, SLAs, commissioning and quality assurance.
• Enforce robust safety procedures such as PTW and LOTO, fostering a strong safety culture.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical systems operation and maintenance, with at least 5 years in a data‑centre or mission‑critical environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E., B.Sc., B.Tech.) from a recognised institution.
• Relevant data‑centre certifications (e.g., CDCP, CDCS, CDFOM) are preferred.
