Assistant Procurement Manager

About the role

The Assistant Procurement Manager will support Biafo Industries Ltd. in securing high‑grade raw materials, chemicals and industrial accessories essential for the production of commercial explosives. This senior‑executive position focuses on strategic sourcing, import logistics and compliance within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for cement, fertilizer, oil & gas and chemical sectors, negotiating multi‑year framework agreements with Tier‑1 suppliers.
• Manage end‑to‑end import processes, including opening LCs, coordinating freight forwarders and optimizing customs duties through HS‑code analysis.
• Ensure compliance with the Department of Explosives, EPA and ISO standards for hazardous material handling, documentation and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with plant operations and finance to align procurement cycles with production peaks, using ERP tools for material requirement planning and inventory tracking.
• Implement supplier performance scorecards covering quality, lead‑time, safety and cost metrics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or Business Administration.
• 5–7 years of procurement experience in cement, fertilizer, oil & gas or chemical manufacturing.
• Strong analytical capability for spend analysis, forecasting and data‑driven decision making.

• SAP MM
• Oracle (or comparable ERP system)
• ERP modules for MRP and real‑time inventory tracking
• Import logistics and customs duty optimization
