Lab Technician – Hydropower Project

About the role

SMEC is looking for a motivated Lab Technician to support a key hydropower project in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The role involves laboratory and field testing of construction materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory and field tests on concrete, aggregates, soil and other construction materials.
• Collect, prepare, label and test material samples according to approved procedures.
• Monitor and record test results, prepare laboratory reports and quality documentation.
• Assist QA/QC engineers in verifying material quality and compliance.
• Support site inspections and field testing as required.
• Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment, reporting any issues.
• Identify and report material test failures or non‑conformances.

Required profile

• Diploma, B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or a relevant technical qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in construction materials testing or laboratory work, preferably on hydropower, dam or major civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of testing methods for concrete, aggregates and soil, and familiarity with QA/QC standards.
