Research Engineer - Electrical, Mechanical & Chemical (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a PhD‑level Research Engineer to develop and optimise advanced electrical, mechanical or chemical systems for high‑impact projects. The position is fully remote and operates on a contract basis, offering the chance to collaborate with cross‑functional teams at a global research services leader.

Key responsibilities

• Design, simulate and validate multidisciplinary engineering systems according to project specifications.
• Perform theoretical modelling and experimental validation to ensure performance and reliability.
• Develop and refine algorithms or processes that improve efficiency and scalability of solutions.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation and presentations for stakeholders and leadership.
• Provide expert troubleshooting and optimisation recommendations for existing systems.

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Proven experience in applied research, system design or process optimisation.
• Ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical, scalable engineering solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with simulation tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, MATLAB or SPICE.
• Strong data analysis, statistics and experimental design capabilities.
• Algorithm development and process optimisation expertise.
