Senior Auditor – Internal Shariah Audit

About the role

The Senior Auditor – Internal Shariah Audit supports the Audit Manager and Head of ISA in delivering robust Shariah governance across Islamic business units. The role involves preparing quarterly presentations for the Board Audit Committee, Internal Shariah Supervision Committee and Management Business Objectives reviews, while ensuring compliance with Shariah resolutions, guidelines and Central Bank of UAE directives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Shariah field audits and reviews according to the approved Internal Shariah Audit plan and audit program (BPRA).
• Lead a small audit team (2‑3 members) to execute audits, communicate findings and drive corrective actions.
• Develop and update the BPRA, create audit action plans and present them in exit meetings.
• Provide inputs for ISSC, BAC and IAG MBO Review presentations, consolidating status reports and action plans.
• Coordinate with the Internal Audit team, exchange findings and maintain GRAM score sheets.
• Monitor follow‑up actions, ensure timely implementation of Shariah recommendations, and participate in audit challenge sessions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in internal Shariah audit, Islamic finance compliance and internal controls.
• Familiarity with Shariah resolutions (Fatawa), guidelines from the Internal Shariah Supervision Committee and the Central Bank of UAE Higher Shariah Authority.
• Ability to prepare and present audit findings to senior committees and senior management.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with unit management and audit stakeholders.
