Senior Data Governance Consultant – Azure

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Governance Consultant with deep expertise in Azure data platforms to design and embed governance frameworks across our enterprise data environment. The role will focus on Microsoft Purview implementation, metadata management, data quality, and compliance while collaborating with engineering and business teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models.
• Configure and manage Microsoft Purview for cataloguing, metadata, classification, lineage, and governance.
• Develop and maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, data domains, and critical data elements.
• Establish data ownership, stewardship, and RACI models.
• Define and enforce data quality rules, KPIs, monitoring, and remediation processes.
• Implement data lineage and impact analysis across Azure data platforms.
• Support data classification, sensitivity, privacy, security, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with Azure Data Engineering and Architecture teams to embed governance‑by‑design.
• Work with Azure services such as ADLS Gen2, Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Azure SQL, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Conduct governance assessments, identify gaps, and develop roadmaps and improvement plans.
• Prepare governance documentation, dashboards, reports, and executive‑level recommendations.

Required profile

• 7–9 years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, metadata management, or data architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Purview.
• Proven experience with enterprise‑scale Azure data platforms.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., DAMA/CDMP, Microsoft Azure) are a plus.
