3D CAD Industrial & Product Designer (Part-Time, Remote)

About the role

This part-time, remote, hourly position calls for someone who combines strong technical 3D CAD skills with a real eye for industrial design. You will create visually appealing, commercially successful products that are also precise and practical to manufacture. Product design skills, aesthetic judgment and the ability to build a coherent design language matter as much as CAD proficiency; the employer is looking for a designer, not just a CAD technician.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience in 3D CAD, industrial design and consumer product development.
• Proven experience designing complete consumer products for commercial production and retail, balancing function, ergonomics, aesthetics and market appeal (mandatory).
• Strong aesthetic judgment: proportions, visual balance, form development, styling and a recognizable design language (mandatory).
• A CAD portfolio showing both technical CAD work and refined consumer product design; portfolios of only mechanical parts or engineering assemblies will not qualify (mandatory).
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Advanced modeling of organic shapes, complex surfaces and geometric textures.
• Parametric CAD: feature-based design, design history, assemblies, editable solid and surface geometry.
• Design for manufacturing, especially laser cutting, CNC milling and machining.
• Ability to deliver production-ready STEP files with accurate solid and surface geometry.
• Nice to have: SolidWorks and/or CATIA, prototyping, material selection and production optimization, building a consistent design language across a product family or collection.
