Accountant – Audit & Tax Specialist

About the role

The accountant will support audit assignments, financial reporting and tax compliance for corporate and SME clients from our Karachi office, collaborating closely with the Audit Manager and HR.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and executing internal and external audit engagements, including test‑of‑controls and substantive testing.
• Prepare and review financial statements, working papers and audit schedules in line with applicable accounting standards.
• Perform tax computations, prepare returns and ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements and intercompany balances, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
• Analyze financial transactions, prepare variance analyses and support month‑end and year‑end close activities.
• Maintain client files, document audit findings and help draft management letters and recommendations.
• Support the Audit Manager during client meetings and ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of Pakistani accounting standards, tax laws and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in preparing audit working papers, lead schedules and financial statements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for drafting reports and interacting with clients and managers.
• Organizational ability to manage concurrent engagements and meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
• High attention to detail, professional ethics and ability to maintain client confidentiality.
