AI-Native Automation QA Engineer (Night Shift)

About the role

A North American tech startup that supplies transportation management software to K-12 school districts is hiring an automation-first QA Engineer. The company is scaling fast and wants a test framework built from scratch, covering UI, API and end-to-end flows, with heavy use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cowork. The role is remote, full-time, night shift (6pm to 3am, flexible), Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build automated test frameworks from scratch using Playwright (preferred), including architecture, conventions and CI integration.
• Drive automation coverage across UI, API and end-to-end flows, keeping suites fast and stable.
• Use Claude Code or Cowork daily to generate, refactor and harden tests, build test data, debug flaky tests and review diffs.
• Run targeted manual testing for new features, edge cases and exploratory scenarios.
• Turn requirements and user stories into test plans and automated coverage, and track defects with reproducible details.
• Work closely with developers and product managers to catch issues early and continuously improve quality and AI-assisted QA.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands-on QA experience, mostly automation.
• Proven ability to build automation frameworks from scratch.
• Extensive, current use of Claude Code or Cowork (or equivalent agentic coding tools) for real automation work; this is stated as a hard requirement.
• Solid grounding in manual testing: test case design, exploratory testing, regression and defect reporting.
• Clear communication, collaboration across engineering and product, and a strong sense of ownership.

Required skills

• Playwright (preferred), Cypress or Selenium, with JavaScript/TypeScript (preferred).
• Nice to have: mobile testing, API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), Git and agile workflows.
