Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team on a permanent, full‑time basis. The role involves handling daily accounting operations, supporting month‑end close, and providing accurate financial data for internal reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Record and post daily financial transactions in Microsoft Dynamics GP.
• Process invoice batches in the sales module and ensure proper deferral of invoices.
• Review Accounts Receivable aging reports and coordinate with the Sales Director on outstanding invoices.
• Handle customer credits, return memos, cash receipts and apply payments accurately in GP.
• Prepare and issue customer invoices, reconciling monthly invoice activity for completeness.
• Maintain supporting documentation for invoices, including contracts and purchase orders.
• Perform regular reconciliations of all balance‑sheet accounts.
• Assist in preparing internal financial reports for monthly, quarterly and annual periods.
• Prepare and post journal entries for month‑end close.
• Identify and resolve inter‑company discrepancies and communicate findings.
• Generate and analyse reports from GP and other financial data sources.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar accounting role.
• Qualified Professional Accountant (Finalist) or a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Knowledge of multi‑currency transactions.
• Proven experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations and month‑end processes.
