Assistant Manager / Manager Litigation

About the role

The Legal Department of a leading bank is seeking an Assistant Manager / Manager Litigation to oversee and coordinate all litigation matters. The role ensures effective case handling, liaises with external counsel, and protects the bank’s legal and financial interests.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing civil, criminal, banking recovery, and regulatory litigation involving the bank.
• Coordinate with external counsel for filing, defending, and pursuing cases before courts, tribunals, and regulatory authorities.
• Prepare case briefs, summaries, and legal documentation for court proceedings.
• Maintain and update the litigation database and case‑management system, tracking hearing dates, court orders, and case progress.
• Draft and review legal notices, replies, affidavits, written statements, and other litigation‑related documents.
• Liaise with Business, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and other departments to gather documents and factual inputs.
• Assist in legal recovery actions against defaulting customers, including filing recovery suits and execution proceedings.
• Attend court proceedings as required and provide timely updates to management.

Required profile

• LLB or LLM from a recognized university.
• 5–8 years of relevant litigation experience, preferably in banking, financial institutions, or corporate legal departments.
• Experience handling civil, banking recovery, and regulatory matters is preferred.
