Assistant Manager Procurement – Contract Logistics

About the role

The Assistant Manager Procurement – Contract Logistics will lead sourcing, vendor onboarding, tendering and operational purchasing for Maersk Contract Logistics. Working closely with operations, finance and regional procurement teams, the role ensures cost‑effective, compliant procurement of goods, services, CAPEX items and third‑party services across warehousing, middle‑mile transport, cold‑chain and depot operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and initiate vendor pre‑qualification and onboarding activities.
• Analyze vendor profiles and evaluate commercial proposals.
• Prepare RFIs, RFPs, annual tenders and related procurement documentation.
• Manage tendering processes through Keelvar and support vendor onboarding via Ironclad and SAP.
• Develop and maintain category‑wise vendor databases.
• Support procurement for third‑party managed sites and Contract Logistics operations.
• Coordinate data integration and reporting with Operations Excellence teams.
• Assist in commercial evaluations for buying versus rental/lease decisions.
• Prepare procurement scorecards, evaluation matrices and approval summaries.
• Conduct market research, benchmarking and sourcing analysis.
• Manage operational purchasing for warehouses, cold‑chain logistics and depot operations.
• Procure CAPEX items such as racking, MHEs, BTS equipment, civil works and maintenance services.
• Support achievement of procurement savings and variable cost targets.
• Maintain Procurement Performance Management (PPM) records and tracking.
• Onboard and coordinate third‑party vendors including manpower and security service providers.
• Develop and implement procurement SOPs and compliance protocols.
• Prepare procurement reports for area and regional management.

Required profile

• Experience managing sourcing, vendor onboarding and tendering processes.
• Ability to analyse vendor proposals and commercial terms.
• Familiarity with procurement documentation such as RFIs, RFPs and tenders.
• Strong coordination skills with operations, finance and regional procurement teams.
• Knowledge of logistics environments including warehousing, middle‑mile transport, cold‑chain and depot operations.
• Capability to conduct market research, benchmarking and sourcing analysis.
• Experience handling operational purchasing and CAPEX procurement.
