Assistant Producer

About the role

Islam Channel, a global English-language broadcaster based in London founded in 2004, is looking for an Assistant Producer to support the production of television programmes, interviews, documentaries, special broadcasts and digital content. The role works closely with Producers, Presenters, Researchers, Directors and Editors to make sure programmes are well researched, organised and delivered to a high standard. It is a full-time, office-based position in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Producers with the planning, preparation and delivery of programmes and digital content.
• Research topics, guests, stories and background information; prepare briefs, running orders, scripts, questions and production notes.
• Identify and coordinate guests, experts and contributors, and liaise with them on requirements, timings and logistics.
• Help plan locations, schedules, equipment and crew needs, and assist during studio and location filming.
• Support live programmes and special broadcasts, and coordinate with presenters, camera crews, editors and graphic designers.
• Monitor schedules and deadlines, review recorded material and help select clips for digital platforms.
• Support social media content, fact-checking and editorial accuracy, and maintain production records.
• Contribute ideas for new programmes and stay informed on current affairs and topics relevant to the Urdu-speaking audience.
• Extended hours, evenings, weekends and public holidays may be needed during special occasions.

Required profile

• 1-2 years' experience in television, digital media, journalism, production or a related field.
• Previous experience as an Assistant Producer, Production Assistant, Researcher or similar is desirable; experience with a channel, production company or broadcaster is advantageous.
• Bachelor's degree in Media, Journalism, Mass Communication, Film and Television or a related field is advantageous but not essential; strong practical skills may lead to consideration without a formal qualification.
• Strong organisation, time management and prioritisation skills, and effective communication and teamwork.
