Content Writer

About the role

Dusk News Pakistan is an independent media platform focused on truth, transparency and in-depth coverage of social justice, politics, human rights, education, environment and emerging issues in Pakistan and the world. It is looking for a skilled, creative Content Writer to produce news articles, feature pieces, analysis blogs, interviews, opinion columns and other editorial content. The position is listed as remote, Islamabad or hybrid, and full-time, part-time or freelance.

Key responsibilities

• Research and write clear, accurate, well-structured articles on news, social issues, politics, environment and human rights.
• Cover trending national and international news with fresh angles, using reliable sources.
• Conduct interviews (phone, email or in person) and turn them into stories.
• Adapt tone and style to news reporting, features or opinion editorials.
• Collaborate with editors on quality, accuracy and consistency with editorial guidelines.
• Apply SEO best practices in headlines, subheadings and content, and fact-check before publishing.
• Suggest story ideas and pitch formats such as infographics and short news explainers.
• Meet daily or weekly content quotas and deadlines.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Political Science, International Relations or a related field (preferred but not mandatory if highly skilled).
• 1-3 years of professional writing experience; fresh graduates with a strong portfolio are encouraged to apply.
• Excellent command of English and AP or journalistic style.
• Strong research skills and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
• Interest in human rights, politics, education, environment and social impact topics.

Required skills

• SEO writing principles and digital content strategies.
• Familiarity with WordPress CMS (or willingness to learn quickly).
• Preferred: multimedia storytelling, Urdu, basic Canva or similar tools, and Google News and Discover knowledge.
