Associate Security Information Analyst

About the role

The Associate Security Information Analyst will support the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) in delivering timely and accurate security information. Reporting to the Chief Security Adviser, the incumbent will be based in Peshawar, Pakistan, a designated hardship duty station, and will contribute to the UN Security Management System.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, validate, and analyse security data from multiple sources to produce actionable intelligence.
• Prepare daily, weekly and ad‑hoc security situation reports for UN missions and partners.
• Support risk assessments and contingency planning for UN operations in complex environments.
• Maintain and update security information databases and GIS tools where applicable.
• Liaise with local authorities, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure information sharing.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of security information processes and standards.

Required profile

• University degree in security studies, international relations, political science, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in security analysis, intelligence gathering or risk assessment, preferably in challenging environments.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
• Willingness to serve in a hardship location and adhere to UN codes of conduct.
