Backend & AI Application Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Backend & AI Application Engineer to design, build and operate scalable backend services enriched with AI capabilities. The role focuses on delivering high-performance, secure APIs and integrating cutting-edge machine-learning models into production-grade applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement RESTful APIs with versioning, pagination, error handling and security (OAuth2, JWT).
• Collaborate with frontend teams on API contracts, mock servers and integration patterns.
• Research, prototype and integrate AI/ML models and third-party services such as OpenAI, LLMs, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines.
• Build semantic search, vector stores and multi-agent workflows using LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex and Weaviate.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests, apply TDD and conduct root‑cause analysis for production issues.
• Optimize API response times, database queries and AI pipelines; implement logging, metrics, tracing and alerts.
• Maintain OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, Postman collections and internal service guides.
• Work with DevOps on containerization, orchestration and CI/CD pipelines (Docker, Kubernetes) across Azure, AWS and GCP.
• Participate in retrospectives, propose improvements and mentor junior backend engineers.

Required profile

• Strong background in backend development using Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience building secure, scalable RESTful services.
• Hands‑on experience integrating AI/ML models and working with vector databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and container orchestration.
