Backend Engineer (Python/FastAPI)

About the role

AppnGO builds a digital platform that helps businesses meet compliance and routine requirements through ready-made modules such as health and safety, food safety, data privacy and fire safety. As a Backend Engineer (Python/FastAPI), you will design, build and maintain the backend services of this platform, working with front-end developers, product managers and advisors. The role is full-time and on-site in Lahore, at DHA Phase 4, and is offered as a 6-month contract that can be extended.

Key responsibilities

• Build REST endpoints for admin and client APIs using FastAPI and a layered architecture.
• Design SQLAlchemy models and Alembic migrations for a multi-tenant MySQL setup with a database per client.
• Write and debug background jobs with Celery, Redis and AWS Lambda/EventBridge.
• Make complex sync logic robust, including concurrency issues and safe production data fixes.
• Own security in your work: authentication, permissions, rate limiting and input sanitisation.
• Write tests, review pull requests and help with deployments.

Required profile

• 3+ years of backend development, mostly in Python.
• Strong SQL and relational modelling, including indexes, transactions and locking.
• Experience with an ORM and FastAPI or async Python in production.
• Clear written English.
• Must live in Lahore and be able to work from the office every day; remote or out-of-city applicants are not considered.
