Civil Engineer – Infrastructure & Maintenance

About the role

Roots International Schools is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer to manage the planning, maintenance, renovation, and development of its campus infrastructure. The role ensures that all buildings, facilities and civil works are safe, functional and compliant with regulations, supporting a high‑quality learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance, repair and renovation of academic buildings, hostels, sports facilities and other campus assets.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify structural issues, safety concerns and maintenance needs.
• Plan, estimate and oversee civil projects, including new construction, remodeling and infrastructure upgrades.
• Prepare project plans, cost estimates, BOQs, specifications and technical reports.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, architects and vendors to ensure timely, on‑budget delivery.
• Monitor construction activities for compliance with drawings, engineering standards and safety regulations.
• Manage preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for roads, drainage, boundary walls, water supply and sewerage systems.
• Verify contractor invoices, progress measurements and material quality.
• Maintain accurate documentation of projects, inspections, maintenance records and asset inventories.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Valid registration with the relevant engineering council, where applicable.
• 3–7 years of experience in building construction, maintenance or facility management.
• Experience in educational institutions, hospitals or large commercial facilities is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, structural systems and building codes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Advanced use of MS Office.
• Familiarity with project management tools.
• Experience preparing BOQs, cost estimation and contract management.
