Data Protection Officer

About the role

Pakistan Single Window is hiring a Data Protection Officer (DPO) for its Data Management office in Karachi, working on site. The DPO guarantees organizational adherence to data protection laws and acts as the go-to person for data protection, making sure data management policies align with security and compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor changes in privacy laws and update policies and procedures accordingly
• Prepare and regularly review Data Privacy policies and procedures
• Assist in developing the Data Privacy strategy within the broader Information Security strategy
• Conduct privacy impact assessments for new projects, processes or technologies involving personal data
• Document the types of personal data processed, classify them by sensitivity and implement protection measures
• Manage data subject access requests and privacy-related inquiries
• Train employees on data protection and foster a culture of compliance
• Oversee information and data classification policies and perform internal privacy audits and assessments
• Recommend and implement corrective actions after audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews
• Work with Procurement and Third-Party Risk Management to ensure vendors handling personal data comply with privacy requirements
• Support reporting authorities in implementing procedural controls and carry out other duties assigned by the Information Security HOD

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a technology, engineering or information security-related field
• Minimum 6 to 7 years of hands-on experience in data and information security in a large enterprise environment
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, documentation and leadership skills

Required skills

• Knowledge of common data protection management frameworks and best practices
• Ability to assess privacy impact, classify data and set protective measures
• Understanding of the Data Privacy strategy and its alignment with Information Security goals
